Winnersh is a mile and a half from where we keep our materials, and that has a practical consequence worth stating plainly: small jobs here are viable that would not be viable further out.
We are based at Valley Crescent in Wokingham, about 1.4 miles from Winnersh, and we have been fencing across this part of Berkshire since 1992. Winnersh falls under Wokingham Borough Council for planning purposes.
Why proximity actually matters
Most fencing companies quietly discourage small work. A single panel or one dropped gate involves the same loading up, the same travel and the same parking as a full day's job, so the economics are poor and the price reflects it.
Winnersh is close enough that this does not apply in the same way. If a panel has blown out or a gate has stopped latching, ask us. We would rather do the twenty minute job for a customer who then calls us when the whole boundary needs replacing.
Newer estates and smaller gardens

Where slotted concrete posts exist and are sound, replacing a damaged panel is genuinely simple, because the new panel drops straight into the existing slot. We are always happy to say when a job is that easy, and it often is.
Small gardens want the right fence
In a compact garden a solid six foot fence on all three sides can make the space feel like a box. It is worth considering a five foot fence with a one foot trellis top, which reaches the same overall height while letting light through the upper section and giving climbing plants something to grow up.

Planning in Winnersh
Winnersh sits under Wokingham Borough Council, the same authority as our own yard. Two metres at the rear, one metre against a vehicle highway, and like for like replacement needs no permission.
Newer estates sometimes carry developer covenants on boundary treatments that are stricter than planning law, so it is worth a look at the deeds if you are changing rather than replacing.
